Meet our new MD António Sá-Dantas



António Sá-Dantas is a conductor, countertenor and composer. He is the co-founder and artistic director of the Cat’s Cradle Collective, a flexible chamber ensemble dedicated to creating cross-artistic collaborative performances of music from all ages and genres, in which he conducts and sings.

As a countertenor, António has premiered multiple pieces as a soloist and part of an ensemble. He was a choral scholar of St. John’s Church Notting Hill and St. James’s Church Piccadilly and currently sings with Mosaic Voices at the New West End Synagogue. He participated in the Cantando Admont workshop for ensemble singing (impuls 2022, Austria) and in the Stile Antico Youth Consort workshops (2022, 2023 UK).

António’s compositional work ranges from collaborations with writers (Eine Schwalbe falten with Margret Kreidl), choreographers and dancers (Suspensão with Clara Andermatt, Portrait of a Wrestler with Claire Heafford, Hide & Seek with Vianne Furey), actors (Songs my mother taught me with Marta Carvalho) and visual artists (The Quiver with Judith Deschamps) to pieces for choir, ensemble, sound installations and film music.

António holds a Bachelor of Arts (hons) in composition and one in orchestra conducting from the Kunstuniversität Graz (Austria) and a Master’s degree in composition (hons) from the Royal College of Music.

António is currently the conductor of Thameside Harmony Chorus, the Union Chapel Singers and Laudamus Chamber Choir. He works as a freelance musician based in London.
